The information provided here is a guide to ensure your property is shown to its best advantage, so that you get maximum benefits and results from your professional property shoot.

Some things mentioned below may seem like the obvious, but it is the little things that are sometimes overlooked.

Exterior

In general you should look at your property from a buyer’s perspective; whatever you find distracting or unappealing should be moved or fixed.

You need to ensure your property is cleaned and free from clutter.
Mow lawns and weed gardens, prune bushes, etc
Make any minor repairs to fixtures if necessary
If you have a pool it should be sparkling clean
Remove garbage bins from sight
Remove all vehicles from driveway
Close garage doors
Remove any obvious oil stains from driveway

Remember you want the house to be the main focal point and make a great first impression

Interior

The inside is just as important as the outside of your property. The first thing you need to decide is which rooms you want featured in the photo shoot and ensure these rooms look the best they can.

Main rooms such as the kitchen, bathroom, living area and master bedroom are all essential to include:

Clean floors
Open windows and blinds to let light in
Replace any missing light bulbs and turn lights on
Clean all mirrors and windows
Turn all appliances off, such as TV
Place all toilet lids down
Replace old shower curtains (if necessary)
Remove all personal items from each room, to leave a clean uncluttered look.
Remove personal items from bathroom such as toothbrushes, shampoos, etc.
Make beds; hide clothing and unnecessary items in cupboards
Hide all electrical cables from view
Clear kitchen benches and remove all small appliances
Remove fridge magnets and items from front of fridge

In general remove all clutter from rooms being photographed and if possible decorate them

Example: Decorate your dining table with your best dinner setting and candles

Add some nice towels and soaps to bathrooms
Fresh flowers always adds that nice touch

By following these simple guidelines your property will look at its best when photographed and be sure to attract far more positive attention.

Gloucester NSW

A bit of history.....To the west of Gloucester are the picturesque Bucketts range and to the east the Mograni Range. The name 'Bucketts (Buckan Buckut)' is derived from the Kattang language spoken by the original Biripi and Worimi Aboriginals and it is believed to mean 'father of stones looking down on to sacred land.'

The A. A. Company (Australian Agricultural Company) were among the first Europeans to arrive in the Gloucester area under the leadership of Robert Dawson in around 1826. From 1847 the company began selling land lots in the Gloucester area and farming settlement began to occur. The town of Gloucester had its beginnings in 1855.

Yesterday's journey to Gloucester Falls was not completed due to roadworks. I unfortunately arrived at the turn-off to find it closed with a detour 2 klms further up the road that was used when the road was flooded.
I sat on the side of the road reviewing my map and pondering for a few minutes.
I was feeling adventurous, and I had already travelled about 50 klms, the last approx 15klms being dirt road.
In the end I decided to follow the detour.
After 2 klms I found the detour sign, pointing to a closed gate that looked like someone's property that went up a very steep hill. The gate was closed to keep their livestock from escaping, but I decided to forge on ahead and see where it would lead me.
I would plan to go back to Gloucester Falls before I leave.
I had the map which gave me an idea of where the dirt roads led, so I headed in the direction of Barrington Tops which is another place I will visit. You really need a day at the Barrington Tops as there is so much to see and it is quite the drive.

The image above was around 15klms past the detour sign. The view just opened up to this expanse of simplistically stunning countryside in every direction.

Every hill and corner I turned it just took my breathe away. I would not have been booked for speeding yesterday, that's for sure!!! I had to keep pulling over just to soak it all in. Truly amazing.

I ended up about 17klms away from the Barrington Tops, when I decided to turn off up what I would refer to as a "bush track"!
Well the view changed to good old Aussie bush, heavily treed, I went up a very steep climb and it levelled off once I got to the top. I'm glad I didn't meet anyone travelling in the other direction as it was a steep drop off the side and not enough room for two vehicles.
There is so much wildlife, there were many beautiful birds including alot of King Parrots. They are very easily spotted due to their bright colouring.
There are alot of very pretty river/creek crossings along the way.

As I got closer to Gloucester on my return the countryside opened up again into the more tree cleared undulating pasture. A storm formed behind me as I headed for town.

Queensland Police Games Equestrian

The annual Queensland Police Games Equestrian - All Breeds Performance Show was held at the Burpengary Equestrian Centre on the 18th September.
The Games were open to all Police Services and Emergency Services employees and their immediate family members. It was a great day to spend with family and friends enjoying a variety of equestrian events.

The Judge on the day was the very experienced and capable Leanne Bartlett, and was assisted by steward Karen Peek. Leanne is a NRHA International & Reining Australia judge, and has been an AQHA and Open HSAA Judge for many years.

You couldn't have asked for a better day weather wise, it was fine and warm. It was almost a little too warm on the grass arena at times, but there was a welcomed breeze that kept things cool.

The very happy duo Lisa Caie and Anicara showed to the best of their ability and were rewarded for their efforts with the gold medal in the Led Hack event.

Western Performance multiple class winners - Susan Maxwell and the very eye catching paint horse gelding Something Picture Perfect smile for the camera.

There was a good variety of events including Led, Western Performance, English Performance, Hacking, Jumping, Sporting. The Harness events were the last classes of the day but by no means any less enjoyable.

Ian Taylor and Mistabar Legend Spirit are shown here putting on an impressive performance in the Open Pleasure Driving. After the results were tallied they took out an honourable reserve placing and a silver medal.

Kim Charlton aboard her beautiful coloured gelding Wordsmith were a captivating team to watch as they went through their paces in style and won gold as the Open Hack Champions.

Carla Adams and Go With The Flow jumped a clear and bold round to take out gold in the Open Working Hunter event.

Around 450 Red Hats from all states of Australia got together for a fun filled weekend on 25, 26 & 27 July on the Sunshine Coast.

The ladies were made to feel right at home with an official welcome from the Major Bob Abbot on the Friday night.

They were kept on their toes all weekend with many activities.

Dressed To Impress they kicked up their heels on the Saturday night at the Caloundra RSL for the "2009 Girlfriend's Giggle" Gala event.

The evening included great food, wine, concerts, entertainment, King Midas Fun Casino, an Elvis impersonator that just happened to be Jarrod Bleijie MP for Kawana.

The two photographers and their assistants were also kept on their toes on the Saturday night with limited room and distance to shoot and other obstacles to cope with, lighting being one!!!

We had a great night regardless of the limitations we had to work around and the Red Hats were great fun to be around.

Copyright Laws & The Photo You Have Purchased

The general public are often unaware of the restrictions and copyright laws that apply to a photograph.

This covers only the very basics of copyright laws to inform people purchasing images what they can and can't do with that image they have purchased for personal use.

Copyright protects photographs and a range of other materials such as other artistic works including paintings, drawings and maps. Written material including novels, written articles, musical works and also films.

Therefore, unless there is an agreement to the contrary (such as a wedding contract where you are shooting for a client) the general rule is that the photographer is the owner of the copyright as the creator of that work.

Photographers that own the copyright to their photos have exclusive right to:

reproduce the photos by making prints, copies etc.
publish the photos and make them available to the public
use the photos for advertising and marketing, putting on websites etc.

Photographers have moral rights that impose certain obligations on people who use a copyright work. As a photographer you have the right to:

be credited as the creator of your photos
take legal action if your work is used without permission
take legal action if your work is distorted or mistreated in a way that harms your honour or reputation.

No photographs cannot be altered in whole or in part, reproduced, manipulated, scanned, copied, transmitted in any form be it electronic, digital or other, including but not limited to images being used and posted on other websites, for advertising, for personal use or for any other reason.

It is certainly cheaper to pay for the photo you want then end up knee deep in an expensive legal argument. It would cost more in fuel to get to court these days!
